Understanding Color Inversion

Color inversion works by subtracting each color channel value from 255 (the maximum value for 8-bit color). For example, a bright red pixel with RGB values (255, 0, 0) becomes cyan with values (0, 255, 255). A mid-tone gray (128, 128, 128) inverts to itself, staying exactly the same.

Our color inverter uses HTML5 Canvas API to process images pixel by pixel, applying the simple but powerful formula: inverted_value = 255 - original_value to each red, green, and blue channel. The alpha channel (transparency) is preserved unchanged, so transparent areas remain transparent.
