About WebP to HEIC Conversion
Converting WebP to HEIC can't be done in a web browser, so this page can't produce HEIC files. Below is why, and which WebP conversions do work here — all in your browser, with nothing uploaded.
Why WebP to HEIC isn't available
HEIC stores pictures with HEVC (H.265) compression. Reading HEIC in a browser is possible (Safari does it natively, and our HEIC converters bring their own decoder for other browsers), but no browser exposes an HEVC encoder to web pages. That means a browser-based tool has no way to write a valid HEIC file, whatever the source format is. We'd rather say so than hand you a file with the wrong contents.
What does work for WebP files here: WebP to JPEG or WebP to PNG.
Need a real HEIC file, for example for an Apple workflow? Export it with Apple's own tools (Preview, Photos or a native app on iOS and macOS). If you have a HEIC file and need another format instead, see our HEIC to JPEG and HEIC to PNG converters.
What to do instead
- Want a format that works here? WebP to JPEG or WebP to PNG.
- Need HEIC specifically? Export from Apple's Preview, Photos or a native iOS/macOS app — a browser tool can't do that step.
Every converter that does work here runs entirely in your browser — your files are never uploaded to a server.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. HEIC encoding needs an HEVC encoder, and web browsers don't expose one, so no purely browser-based tool can create HEIC files. Rather than silently give you a different format under a .heic name, this tool reports that it can't do it.
It's a platform limitation rather than a bug: the browser APIs needed to write HEIC don't exist. Working around it would mean uploading your files to a server, which this site deliberately doesn't do.
Right here you can convert WebP to JPEG or PNG. Choose the target format in the converter above, or use the links in this page.
No. Nothing is uploaded: every conversion on this site that does work runs locally in your browser.
